It's the part of Capitol Hill that most people don't know exists. The families who live here chose it for the parks, the architecture, and the feeling of being in a neighborhood that hasn't tried to become something else.

1905–1930
Low-pitched roofs, deep eaves, built-in cabinetry. The signature of the Hill.
1910–1925
Symmetrical facades, columned porches. Concentrated on Federal Ave E.
1920–1940
Steeply pitched roofs, decorative half-timbering. Scattered through the north blocks.
1925–1945
Formal proportions, centered entries. Often the largest lots on the street.
1900–1915
Boxy, practical, democratic. A workhorse style that has aged beautifully.
1950–1965
Rare here, but the few that exist — clean lines, walls of glass — are coveted.
